The Arab region, Arabia Nome, is one of the administrative regions in Ptolemaic Egypt, founded at the beginning of the Macedonian era. It was called Arab because the majority of its residents were Arabs. Its parts included the regions east of the Nile Delta, and its capital was the city of Faqus. While the governor of the region was given the title Arabarch, meaning ruler of the Arabs.
- It included all the regions east of the Delta. Even centuries after Ptolemaic Egypt, the region of the regions east of the Delta remained linked to the term Arabia, as papyri from the fourth century AD mentioned the region east of the Delta under the name “Arabia Nova.” In general, all regions of eastern Egypt were part of Arabia (Arabia).
