- Camels were domesticated in the Levant in 900 BC. In 853 BC, we find the Earliest Historical attestation of ‘Arabs’ (Kurkh Monolith). Gindibu ‘King of the Arabs’ supplied 1000 camels at the Battle of Qarqar. Originally, the term ‘Arab’ was strongly associated with camel breeding.
